Rachel Lane
Owner, Makeup Artist
Rachel Lane is a freelance makeup artist specializing in bridal, editorial and fashion beauty/grooming.
Artistry has been knocking at my door and drawing me nearer since childhood, I have always felt driven to create. I've found that beauty and fashion are the perfect outlet for me. As a child I played dress up and created fashion shows. As a teen, and into adulthood, I would do my friend’s makeup for dates and costumes. I started volunteering as a makeup artist for Baltimore Help Portrait 5 years ago. I was finally in a place to pursue makeup artistry as a career 3 years ago when my loving fiancé encouraged me to do so. It's been quite the adventure, but I am loving and learning from every step.
Logan Circle, DC
West Elm was born in Brooklyn in 2002. A branch of Williams–Sonoma, Inc, we're focused on the intersection of modern design, affordability and community. Everything we sell—from sofas and tables to bedding and vases—is made with one goal in mind: to help our customers express their personal style at home and in the world.
We care about impact too. By designing over 90% of our products in–house, our design team has steadily increased our selection of organic, handcrafted, sustainably sourced and Fair Trade Certified™ products. There's a story behind everything we sell—one that starts in Brooklyn and lives on with you.
With the holiday season in the air, we want to do all that we can to help give back! District Bliss will be putting a portion of ticket sales to put toward putting together a food basket to donate to a local DC homeless shelter; we want to make sure everyone gets a meal for the holiday season!
Mission
SOME (So Others Might Eat) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time. We invite you to join us.
The Need
There are 8,350 homeless men, women and children in our nation’s capital. Nearly one in five DC residents live at or below the poverty line.
We will be accepting donations (canned goods, non-perishables, toiletries, etc) at the event! Bring any items that you'd like to add to the basket! Following our DIY Workshop, we will deliver the basket at the shelter.
Give back this season and donate toward a food basket!
In addition, DB will be using a portion of this event's ticket sales, feel free to add a donation to your ticket at checkout!
